Pilots comments
I was lucky enough to be on the S12 course that Paragliding Academy ran at Lake Garda 5-8/10/08 and I thought I should write how it went. I apologise for it being in English, but mein Deutsch ist sehr klein !
The location of Lake Garda as a safety or acro training site is superb. It's easy to get to as a Brit using Ryanair flights to Bergamo (Milan), which is only 1.5 hrs away. The height of Mt Baldo means that you can do loads of manoeuvres in a single flight, then go back up on the lift and do it all again.
The Paragliding Academy team were very professional in their approach to the training, with their aim being to get the most out of the course for the pilots. Even when it was unflyable at Garda, we drove to Molveno (about an hour away) to fly and get some more over water training. There are extra benefits from spending time with someone as experienced as Chris Geist, such as his deep technical knowledge of gliders and testing.
The food that we ate each evening after the course made it feel like a gastronomic holiday, with the teams huge list of excellent resturants in the area.
Finally, as a Brit I can vouch that Chris's English is spot-on, which is very reassuring when you're risers are twisted up with the wing racing down past the horizon !!
Well recommended,
Steve Nash
